Prior to retirement she was a member of the IEEE Reliability Society, the CAP (the Canadian Association of Physicists) Theoretical Physics Division, the CAP (the Canadian Association of Physicists) Industrial and Applied Physics Division, the Canadian Nuclear Society, and WISE (Women in Science and Engineering)
She set the requirements for and managed one of the first major Canada/US AI projects to develop a risk expert system.
Her team did the analysis and found the causes of the Therac 25 injuries and fatalities. This eventually led to the development of the medical device software standard IEC-62304
Judi has presented papers at scientific conferences including the Canadian Conference on Industrial Computer Systems, the Simulation Symposium on Reactor Dynamics and Plant Control, and the Canadian Association of Physicists.
She has been a university guest lecturer on Risk at the University Of Waterloo (Canada).
